The wife of Kerala Congress (Mani) MP, Jose Mani, has sensationally alleged that she was sexually harassed while travelling in a train. Writing in her book, The Other Side Of This Life – Snippets of my life as a Politician’s Wife, although Nisha Jose did not name anyone, an independent MLA’s son has filed a police complaint against her alleging that she was hinting at him.
She wrote in the book, “My head covered with my stole, I suddenly felt no different from Red Riding Hood who was being taken for a ride. I was sitting crouched on my seat as far back as I could push myself, hugging my knees with only my feet popping out. Occasionally his hand would ‘accidentally’ brush past my toes as he shifted his position.
“And every time he did so ‘accidentally,’ I was uncomfortable and felt violated. It was turning out to be a nightmare of a journey. I knew he had crossed the Lakshman Rekha. I firmly asked him to leave. However, my decency made me explain that I had to get off the train in just two hours or so, considerately making no mention of his ‘impropriety.’ ”
Nisha Jose is the daughter-in-law of Kerala Congress chief KM Mani, who is one of the most powerful politicians in Kerala. Shone George, who’s the son of Malayalam actor Jagathy Sreekumar and the only independent MLA in the Kerala assembly, filed a police complaint adding that Nisha Jose should just name the person.
When asked why she did not file a police complaint against her alleged harasser when the incident happened, Nisha Jose said that it was private matter and she thought she had dealt with the matter firmly.
