Kejriwal government writes to Anil Ambani, warns of action over ‘corruption’ and below expectation performance

Delhi government on Tuesday wrote Reliance ADAG chairman, Anil Ambani slamming the poor performance of power discom BSES.

In the scathing letter, Delhi’s Power Minister, Satyendar Jain said that the company had failed to perform in accordance with the expectation that it will bring down the tariff and install world class power system in the national capital.

“Performances of BSES so far have been atrocious… The expectation was that you will bring down tariffs and install a world class power system in the capital city of Delhi, which would compare better than power system in any other capital in the world. However, you have failed to do so,” Jain wrote.

Alleging rampant corruption, Jain in his letter asked Ambani to come for a meeting immediately with a concrete road-map on how you plan to improve the power situation.

Delhi has had its own share of frequent power cuts in the recent past drawing criticism from the city residents.

The minister warned Ambani of serious action, Jain wrote, “You might have had a cosy relationship with previous Governments in Delhi at the expense of public interest, kindly note that the new Government is fully committed to protecting the interests of the public.”

The letter further accused the BSES of siphoning off of funds.

It said, “There are also allegations of corruption and financial irregularities including siphoning off funds by your companies.”
