Kashmiri separatist leaders placed under house arrest ahead of NSA-level talks

Authorities on Thursday put all top separatist leaders under house arrest in Kashmir.

Leaders including Syed Ali Shah Gilani, Shabir Ahmad Shah, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Yaseen Malik have been placed under house arrest.

Hurriyat( G) spokesman, Ayaz Akbar told www.jantakareporter.com,” Heavy contingent of forces have been deployed  around our Hyderpora office/residence and we are not allowed to move here and there..We fail to understand why government took this step. All our senior leaders of amalgam are under house arrest.”

All Jammu and Kashmir Hurriyat Conference chairman, Shabir Ahamd Shad also confirmed that he had been put under house arrest,

Mirwaiz Umar Farooq’s political advisor Shaid ul Islam said that police also raided the houses of seven leaders of Mirwaiz group .

Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front chairman Yasin Malik told www.jantakareporter.com over phone:” My house was raided by the police.I have been taken to Kothibagh police station. My other colleagues’ houses too were raided in the early hours of Thursday.”

The  house arrests  of Kashmiri separatist leaders have come ahead of NSA- level talks  between India and Pakistan scheduled for 23. August in New Delhi.

Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi  had invited Kashmiri separatist leaders to New Delhi  on the day of NSA-level talks.
