Steel giant Jindal Steel and Power Limited has made an extraordinary offer of free oxygen supply as hospitals up and down the country complained of acute shortages. In a series of tweets, the JSPL said that ‘more than 500 tons of liquid oxygen stock was readily available at their Angul plant.’
It wrote, “JSPL has more than 500 tons of liquid oxygen stock readily available at our Angul plant. We are waiting for the users to send their tankers. We can fill up on a first come first serve basis or as per the priority decided by the Ministry of steel.”
The statement by the JSPL added, “We have always stood with the nation in times of need and will continue to support the nation in all possible ways in this war against the pandemic. For JSPL, it is always Nation First. Jai Hind,”

When a Twitter user asked the cost of this oxygen supply, a senior executive from the company said that it would be made available for free.
Only a few days ago, the JSPL had said that it was prepared to compromise its steel production briefly to supply oxygen to hospitals to save human lives amidst a dangerous surge in the pandemic in India. The extraordinary announcement by the JSPL had come amidst the pandemic reaching an alarming level across the country.
Rajya Sabha MP Vivek Tankha had recently revealed how the JSPL had dedicated two tankers of liquid oxygen weighing 16 tons each to hospitals in Jabalpur after learning about the oxygen shortages there.
