The Jodhpur Sessions Court has rejected Asaram’s bail plea.

BJP member and lawyer Subramanian Swamy took up the bail plea of Asaram Bapu, jailed in a sexual assault case, in a Jodhpur court on Friday.

Swamy, who argued for over an hour, told reporters yesterday that he had cited some important judgments of the Supreme Court. “I have done my best to prove to the court that he has been implicated and has been kept in prison for so long on the basis of circumstantial evidences,” Swamy said. “I will ensure his bail because he deserves it and if this does not happen, I will appeal further”, he added.

Terming the case fit for bail, he said the case should be dismissed and those who implicated Asaram should face legal proceedings for filing a false case.

Prosecution counsel PC Solanki objected to the bail plea, pleading with the court to look at the person who committed the crime, the girl who was victimised and the circumstances under which the crime was committed.
