By inviting ISI to India, Modi govt has insulted our martyrs: Arvind Kejriwal

Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal on Monday slammed the central government for allowing the Pakistan’s Joint Investigation Team to visit Pathankot, which was the target of terror attacks in January this year.

Kejriwal said that this was tantamount to Narendra Modi government succumbing to Pakistan and insulting ‘our martyrs.’

The attack on Pathankot Air Force base had left seven members of India’s armed forces dead.

Kejriwal said, “Our MLAs raised an important issue in the assembly today prompting the proceedings to adjourn briefly. There have been terror attacks in our country with the latest being in Pathankot, where both civilians and members of our armed forces were also killed.

“We all know who’s behind these attacks. Time and again, India has said that the ISI are behind these attacks and Pakistani government are providing shelters to these terrorists. It same on 26/11 attacks and we said that the Pakistan and ISI had sent the terrorists. The same ISI, which carried out the terror attacks, now has come for investigation. Will they gather evidence against themselves?”

Kejriwal asked if Modi government now had exonerated Pakistan of all its evils.

He said, “If it’s Pakistan-sponsored terrorism, then how it carry out investigation against itself? The bottom line is that India is a victim of Pakistan sponsored terrorism. So, instead of Pakistani agency coming here, our agencies such as CBI, RAW and IB should have gone to Pakistan. Hafiz Saeed is not in India, he’s in Pakistan. Indian agencies should have gone to interrogate Hafiz Saeed and Salahuddin.”

He said that Modi had had completely succumbed to Pakistan and India will not ‘tolerate this’ adding that the prime minister owed an explanation to the country.

The five-member JIT met officials of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Monday. Quoting sources, IBN reported that the Pakistan probe team had sought all call details of Punjab police officer Salwinder Singh, who was interrogated by the NIA over the attack. They also sought the call details of Salwinder Singh’s family members.

Sources further said that the Pakistan JIT has asked for permission to interrogate the commander of Pathankot airbase.
