Activists have reacted in anger after a girl, who accused a Rajasthan government minister’s son, was attacked with ink in Delhi. The police have registered a case and launched a probe.

The 23-year-old girl said in her complaint that two men attacked her with ink when she was walking on a road in southwest Delhi with her mother on Saturday. Both men attacked her with blue ink on Kalindi Kunj Road before fleeing from the spot.

Activist Yogita Bhayana tweeted, “This is unbelievable ! The girl who registered an FIR of Rape against Minister’s Son in Rajasthan has been attacked by some chemical by two unknown men in Delhi…Now admitted in Delhi hospital….this is total abuse of power. ⁦@ashokgehlot51⁩ ji Pls take strict action.”

Delhi Commission for Women Swati Maliwal tweeted, “The girl who accused Rohit Joshi, son of Rajasthan Minister Mahesh Joshi of rape, was attacked with some substance by two unidentified people in Delhi. @ashokgehlot51 Sir, instead of saving your minister’s son, arrest him. I am issuing notice to Delhi Police for FIR on this attack.”

Maliwal later wrote a letter to the Delhi Police asking them to update the DCW about the action taken in the matter.

The Delhi Police, for their part, said that the blue liquid thrown at the girl looked like ink. A case has been registered sections 195 A (threatening any person to give false evidence), 506 (criminal intimidation), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) and 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code.
