India’s ace athlete Tintu Luka secured her first ever individual international gold medal by winning the women’s 800-metre finals as India secured third position on the last day of the 21st Asian Athletics Championships in Wuhan, China.
The national record holder Luka left behind China’s Zhao Jing and Sri Lanka’s Nimali Klarachchige to bag the top position by clocking 2:01.53.
Although Luka clocked her season’s best timing at Wuhan Sports Center, sadly she didn’t make it to the Rio Olympics qualification.
While China topped the medal tally with 15 gold followed by Qatar with seven, India finished third with a medal haul of four gold, five silver and four bronze in the championships.
