Hyderabad-Pune Duronto Express derails, at two killed

Hyderabad-Pune Duronto Express derailed in Karnataka on Saturday morning killing at least two people and injuring many others.

Quoting the railway spokesperson Anil Saxena, Associated Press news agency reported said the accident occurred at about 2:15 am Saturday.

Police and rescuers were reported to be helping in pull out scores of passengers from the coaches that fell on their side.

The injured have been taken to hospitals in Gulbarga, about 600 kilometers (370 miles) north of Bangalore.

The cause of the derailment is not immediately known.

This derailment follows several other train accidents in the recent past.

Last week, around 42 passengers were injured as 5 coaches of Chennai Manglore express derailed at Virudhachalam in Tamil Nadu at 2.30 am on Friday.

A month ago, Madhya Pradesh was struck by twin train tragedies after two trains, Kamayani Express and Janata Express, derailed and 15 of their coaches plunged into the swollen river.

At least people had died from the accident while over 40 are injured.
