First it was Congress Gandhi, who called Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj, ‘good in theatrics’ and someone who just did drama. Moments later, the party’s vice president Rahul Gandhi, launched yet another attack against the external affairs minister, currently facing heat from opposition parties in the parliament.

Responding to Swaraj’s statement in parliament on Thursday, Rahul said that the minister had a lot to answer to the nation.

He said, ” Sushmaji (in her statement) asked if Soniaji was in her position what she would have done. As her son, I can tell you that Sonia ji wouldn’t have done the same thing. Sushmaji maintained a full secrecy while writing to British authorities requesting travel documents for Lalit Modi. why?”

Rahul also hinted that the foreign minister had benefited from an alleged ‘quid pro quo’ with Lalit Modi.

He said, “She (Sushma Swaraj) should tell the nation how much money her family received to keep Lalit Modi out of jail?”

Swaraj, in her emotional speech in parliament on Thursday, had said that her decision to write to British authorities was only on humanitarian ground as Modi’s wife was suffering from a life-threatening disease.

Opposition parties led by the Congress have been disrupting the proceedings of parliament demanding the resignations of Swaraj, Rajasthan chief minister Vasundhara Raje Scindia and Shivraj Chauhan, the chief minister of Madhya Pradesh.
