Bollywood actor turned politician Hema Malini’s car met with an accident on Thursday evening while travelling to Jaipur from her constituency Mathura in Uttar Pradesh, killing a four-year child in the process. Her driver was later arrested.
It is being reported that Malini later underwent plastic surgery for her wounds at Fortis hospital in Jaipur.
“She had lacerations in para-nasal area and on the forehead near the right eyebrow,” P Tamboli, facility director at Fortis said.
“A surgery of debridement and repair of lacerated wounds was carried out post midnight. It was a two-hour long process under general anaesthesia. She is now in post-operative intensive care unit,” he said.
“Her clinical parameters are at normal level. She is doing fine and has been started on a liquid diet,” Tamboli added.
Dausa SP, Anshuman Bhomia earlier clarified after the accident, “Five people were injured and out of them Sonam died. Sonam’s mother and brother have been referred to SMS (Sawai Man Singh) hospital.”
Malini’s accident and the subsequent media coverage became a subject of intense conversation on social media platforms. With Hema Malini becoming a top twitter trend, the dominating theme of the conversation was how media had focussed on the actor’s injury and not the four-year-old child, who was killed by her ‘speeding car.
An eye-witness described Malini’s behaviour as that of arrogance.
