Google India on Wednesday paid homage to former President and Bharat Ratna APJ Abdul Kalam by displaying a black ribbon on its homepage.
The mark of respect on the Google India homepage signifies how much the ‘Missile Man of India’ was respected all across in the country, by all sections of people.
In the past too, Google India has marked anniversary occcasions of several prominent people including filmmaker Satyajit Ray, mathematics genius Shakuntala Devi and cine icon Raj Kapoor among others.
The black ribbon used for Dr. Kalam is unique since it has not been drafted into the page as a doodle but just as an icon placed below the search tab. On running the mouse over the ribbon, it reads, “In memory of Dr APJ Abdul Kalam”.
Tributes have been pouring in from the country and world over ever since news arrived on Monday evening of Dr. Kalam leaving for his heavenly abode. He had collapsed while delivering a lecture at the Indian Institute of Managment in Shillong.
