A photo posted from inside the jail by two inmates on their Facebook pages has blown the lid off the claims of Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal and Punjab Police DGP Sumedh Singh of having “foolproof” and “high-security” jails in the state.
This after two gangsters, Rajwinder Singh alias Laatu Sandhu and Ashu, in Faridkot modern jail uploaded their pictures on to the social networking site Facebook.
The development comes days after the role of Faridkot’s police came under sharp scrutiny after two Sikh youth were killed in alleged police firing.
Interestingly, Rajwinder, who was also elected as an independent councillor from Kotkapura ward number 15 this year, was arrested under the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS Act).
His Facebook update read, “Dinda rabb sardha jag parmatma nu yaad rahkhe waheguru g da khalsa . Waheguru g de fatah … (sic)” (God is the only giver, people should remember God with complete devotion).”
On the other hand another inmate, Ashu’s post read, “Ajj pinjre ch bnd. kal jit lao shareh. Waheguru g da khalsa waheguru g di Fatah.. (Today we might be imprisoned, tomorrow we will win the world).”
B S Bhullar, superintendent of the Faridkot prison, rejected the reports of prisoners uploading the pictures from inside the prison.
“We have a foolproof security system and an internal phone call booth. Inmates do not have access to mobile phones or the internet ,” Bhullar was quoted as saying.
The same prison was in news recently after the reports emerged that K S Bhullar, an assistant jail superintendent of the jail, had been booked for allegedly supplying drugs.
