Actor Farhan Akhtar has come out in support of Prime Minister Narendra Modi asking fans to not share his old photo with the rape convict baba, Asaram.
Taking to Twitter, Farhan wrote, “So, Asaram is a child rapist. And he has been found guilty. Good. But can people please stop sharing images of him with PM Modi. Patronising him before he was exposed to be a pervert is no crime. Let’s be fair and give him the benefit of doubt that he, like us, did not know.”

This was after social media users began to fervently share an old video of Asaram with PM Modi, who was seen chanting mantras at the rape convict’s behest by holding his hand. Modi was then the Gujarat chief minister.
Many users said they were in full agreement with Farhan adding that they wished people were as logical as him.
Man! Wish people could be as logical as you’re being here. The extent to which some clowns can go to make a political point is beyond bizarre!

Totally in agreement with you! Wish people in Bollywood and tv @SethShruti @ReallySwara @sagarikaghose could have been more logical and more focused about the problem for women in the country than just politicizing the issue over a poor child and.

A Jodhpur court on Tuesday convicted Asaram of rape before sentencing him to life in jail. The verdict was announced by judge Madhusudan Sharma inside the Jodhpur Central Jail, which was shut even for mediapersons.
The Congress had earlier posted a video of Asaram with Modi while taking a potshot at the prime minister. The Congress party’s tweet had said, “A man is known by the company he keeps – Aesop’s fables.”
