Dans are praying for the speedy recovery of former Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq after he suffered a heart attack in Lahore on Monday. Inzamam’s condition is said to be stable at the moment.

The former charismatic Pakistani cricket player had complained of chest pain for the last three days, prompting the doctors to carry out routine tests on him. Initial tests did not give any indication of a heart attack. However, a test on Monday conclusively established that Inzamam had suffered a heart attack.

He was immediately rushed to the hospital where he underwent angioplasty. According to local media reports quoting the former cricketer’s manager, a stent has been successfully placed in Inzamam’s heart.

Meanwhile, fans and well-wishers have been praying for his speedy recovery. Cricket commentator Harsha Bhogle tweeted, “Wishing Inzamam-ul-Haq all the very best, that he recovers completely and remains part of our game for many many years.”

51-year-old Inzamam grabbed the international limelight in 1992 when Pakistan lifted the World Cup, held in Australia and New Zealand. With 11,701 runs in 375 One Day Internationals, he is Pakistan’s highest run-getter. He is also the third-highest run-scorer in Tests for his country with 8829 runs in 119 matches.

He held several administrative positions after retiring from professional cricket in 2007. He acted as the batting consultant for the Pakistani cricket team before becoming the country’s chief selector between 2016 and 2019. Inzamam was also the head coach of Afghanistan in the past.

Not too long ago, former India skipper Sourav Ganguly too had suffered a heart attack and had to undergo angioplasty in Kolkata.
