The 2016 ICC World Twenty20 will be the sixth edition of ICC World Twenty20 tournament.
India is hosting the ICC World T20 for the 1st time, but the event remains in the Sub-Continent for 3rd consecutive time after Sri Lanka and Bangladesh in 2012 and 2014 respectively.
The format of the tournament remains the same as per the last edition and the tournament feature 16 teams. The winner will be decided after 35 matches.
India remains a clear favorite given their current form and home conditions. But no host team has ever won a T20 World Cup yet.

Last time India hosted an ICC World Cup (ICC – 50 Over Cricket World Cup 2011); India was the Champion under the captaincy of MS Dhoni.
At the age of 17 Years and 170 days Rashid Khan of Afghanistan is the youngest participant of the ICC World T20, 2016.
Ryan Campbell of Hong Kong at the age of 44 years and 30 days is the oldest participant of the tournament. He too is the oldest player to play a T20 International match.
Ryan Campbell, who was born in Western Australia, had played 2 ODIs for Australia in 2002. With a Chinese grandmother, and having settled in Hong Kong with his family, he made his T20I debut after 14 years for Hong Kong.
Shahid Afridi, the flamboyant Pakistan captain is the most capped T20 International player of the tournament.
Afridi has played 94 T20Is so far. Provided Pakistan plays all their matches with Afridi and qualify for the final of the tournament, Afridi will become 1st player to feature in 100 T20 International matches.
MS Dhoni is the most capped T20 International player for India. He has played 63 matches so far and has captained India in 62 of them.
Apart from holding the record for most matches as captain in T20 International (62), Dhoni also holds the record for most matches as captain in Twenty 20 matches (215).
In the short history of ICC World T20, Bangladesh has five players, the most number of players from a team, who are part of all the ICC World T20 since its inception in 2007 in South Africa. Here is a list of 19 players who are part of straight 6th ICC World T20.
