Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg announces his support for Indian government’s Digital India initiative

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg on Sunday announced his support for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Digital India campaign by updating his Facebook profile photo.

Replacing his old photo with the one covered with green and saffron-two colours used in Indian tricolour, he wrote, “I changed my profile picture to support Digital India, the Indian government’s effort to connect rural communities to the Internet and give people access to more services online. ”

Zuckerberg added that he was looking forward to meeting PM Modi at Facebook headquarter on Sunday. Modi is expected to visit the Facebook HQ later today to attend a Q&A session there.

Minutes later Modi too changed his profile photo and replaced it with similar to that of Zuckerberg’s.

Earlier this month, Zuckerberg had invited Modi to visit his office dueing his US visit. The Indian prime minister was only too excited to accept his invitation.
