19-year-old uncapped Australian bowler Aaron Hardie achieved quite a feat on Thursday as he single-handedly dismissed Virat Kohli during a warm-up match against Australia A at the SCG.
Hardie dismissed Kohli, who was comfortably batting on 64 when he failed to read Hardie’s bowling and gifted a catch in his follow-through. The Australian all-rounder, who is yet celebrate his 20th birthday, simply couldn’t believe his luck as he ran to celebrate his remarkable feat.
He told reporters, “It was a pretty amazing feeling. It all happened very quickly. Because he was smacking me around the park a little bit and then next minute he hit one back to me.”
Hardie finished with figures of 4-50 on Thursday, cleaning up the tail clinically after he had Rohit Sharma out edging for 40.
Born in the English coastal town of Bournemouth, Hardie had started playing cricket as a child in Perth. Last year, he had dismissed England captain Joe Root and James Vince in the same over.
India were all out for 358 in their first innings after the first day of play was washed out due to rain. In response, Australia A were 36 for no loss at the end of the second day’s of play.
India play their first Test against Australia on 6 December at Adelaide Oval.
Here’s a moment 19-year-old Aaron Hardie won’t forget: Virat Kohli caught-and-bowled for 64.
