Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has turned down the proposal of including eggs in anganwadi meals in Alirajpur, Mandla and Hoshangabad districts, as reported by The Indian Express.

The proposal to serve boiled eggs and egg curry was extended in a meeting by the Women and Child Development authority, to ensure a protein-rich diet for kids at anganwadis. According to media reports, Shivraj had publicly declared, “Milk and bananas will be served, but never eggs.”

S K Mishra, principal secretary to the minister, told The Indian Express, “It has been a sentimental issue with the CM from day one. Moreover, there are better, more nutritious options available.”

States including Tamil Nadu and Orissa serve eggs in school meals.
