To connect with people in the national capital, Delhi Police Commissioner Bhim Sain Bassi on Tuesday joined Twitter by launching three handles of the microblogging site.

The three handles, including @BhimBassi, @CPDelhi and @DelhiPolice, have been launched to capture the sentiment and mood of the society.

On the occasion of launching the three twitter handles, Bassi said: “We are now pleased to partner with Twitter and launch our three key Twitter handles to further transparent, accountable and seamless policing.”

“These channels will help us capture the sentiment and mood of the society and gather information on what our citizens feel about contemporary issues affecting them,” Bassi was quoted by IANS.

One of the twitter handled would be handled by Bassi himself while the others would be be handled by the office of the commissioner of Delhi Police and Central Police Control Room (CPCR).

In its first tweet from his twitter handle, @BhimBassi, the Delhi Police chief defined the real policeman’s task by giving the force’s much-vaunted motto “Shanti, Sewa, Nyaya (peace, service and justice)”.

“Nothing can better define a policeman’s task than ‘Peace Service Justice’ inscribed in the insignia of Delhi Police,” Bassi tweeted.

Bassi further said the twitter platform will also serve as a medium to provide near real-time advisories, alerts and general information to the public at large.
