Delhi Police dismiss 3 cops for kidnapping and demanding Rs 1.5 crore ransom from victim’s wife

The Delhi Police have dismissed three of its cops from service after they were found guilty of abducting a man and demanding Rs 1.5 crore as ransom from his wife. Assistant Sub-Inspector Sube Singh, Head Constable Indu Pawat and Constable Ajay Kumar posted at Ranhola police station have been dismissed from service with immediate effect.

They were arrested from Maurya Enclave on 4 December. Another cop from the same police station has been sent to district lines and a probe ordered against him.

Quoting officials, news agency PTI reported that a case of kidnapping and extortion had been registered against the three policemen. Police also said that a case of cheating was registered in Chandigarh against Pradhan, who was kidnapped by the policemen, and five others.

The three dismissed cops of the Delhi Police had kidnapped one Pradhan, who they held hostage in Uttam Nagar and threatened his wife to implicate him in the cheating case if she refused to pay Rs 1.5 crore.

In August this year, Delhi Police Commissioner Amulya Patnaik had dismissed Inspector Neeraj Kumar Tyagi, the SHO of Saket Police Station in South Delhi for taking Rs 2 lakh bribe. Inspector Sanjay Sharma the Additional SHO of Hauz Khas police station too was sent to district police lines pending inquiry after his name also figured in the First Information Report lodged by the CBI.
