The Delhi government will take up with Haryana and Punjab the issue of crop burning in the states which has generated a thick blanket of smog in the capital.
The seasonal burning of the stubble of crops in the two states has caused smog in the national capital region.
“Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has directed Environment Minister Imran Hussain to take up with the state governments of Punjab and Haryana the issue of crop burning in their respective areas, which is having a detrimental effect on air quality in the national capital and is also leading to formation of smog in the atmosphere,” said a Delhi government statement.
Besides, the Delhi government has called a meeting on Wednesday of departments concerned to discuss ways to curb pollution.
