Delhi court takes cognisance of chargesheet filed against RK Pachauri in sexual harassment case

Delhi’s Saket Court on Saturday took cognisance of chargesheet filed against RK Pachauri, in sexual harassment case.

Pachauri, former TERI chairman, is facing allegations of sexually harassing his colleague.

The court said that there was sufficient material to proceed against Pachauri under section 354 A,354 B,354D,509 and 341, drops section 506 of IPC.

It has fixed 11 July as the date to supply copy of the chargesheet to the accused.

Pachauri is a leading voice on the dangers of global warming and he was forced to step down as chairman of the Nobel Prize-winning UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) earlier this year after a 29-year-old female colleague at TERI accused him of harassing her last year.

Police had also questioned 74-year-old scientist June 2015, based on evidence provided by the woman, who had accused him of sending repeated inappropriate emails, WhatsApp and text messages.

Pachauri has, however, denied the allegations saying his emails and mobile phone were hacked.
