The newly appointed chief Delhi Commission for Women, Swati Maliwal, has written to the Delhi University Vice Chancellor. Dinesh Singh. to provide information on the measures he’s taken to deal the complaints of sexual harassment in the campus.
Only on Tuesday, Maliwal had summoned the principal and the accused professor of St Stephen’s College in connection with the complaints of sexual harassment of a research scholar there.
In her letter, Maliwal has sought the details on sexual harassment committee, its date of formation and names of various members in the committee.
Among other information that the DCW has asked for also include the list of complaints the university has received in 2013-14 and the funds it has allocated to the committee looking into the cases of sexual harassment involving students and teachers.
Maliwal also expressed her concern over the deteriorating law and order in Delhi particularly on women safety adding that the DCW was dutifully bound to monitor the ‘safety, security and interest’ of women in Delhi.
