The nationwide Mobile Number Portability (MNP), which will allow customers to retain their existing mobile number even while shifting to another state or circle, will become operational from today.
As per the current situation, mobile users can keep their existing mobile number while changing the operator only in the same state or circle.
The subscribers can now even just call their customer care number or visit the local telecom operator to avail this facility.
The earlier deadline to bring in national Mobile Number Portability was May 2, which was then extended for two months following a plea of extension made by the Cellular Operators Association of India.
