Congress MP Shashi Tharoor on Sunday shared a selfie with AAP’s Punjab Chief Minister-designate Bhagwant Mann after the latter led the Aam Aadmi Party to script a historic victory in the state.
Mann, who was the only AAP MP in Lok Sabha, had visited the parliament to resign as an MP, before taking oath of office as the Punjab chief minister.
Sharing a selfie with Mann, Tharoor tweeted, “Parliamentary camaraderie: many @incIndia MPs came up to Bhagwant Mann to congratulate him on his election victory& appointment as CM of Punjab. I had the pleasure of sharing his joy after five years of being seated in the same bench in the Lok Sabha in the previous term.”
Tharoor had earlier showered praises on Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the BJP’s splendid victory in Uttar Pradesh in the just-concluded polls. Speaking at the Jaipur Literary Festival, Tharoor had described Modi as a man of ‘tremendous vigour.’

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi is a man of tremendous vigour and dynamism and has done some things which are very impressive, especially politically. We did not expect him to win with such great margins but he did,” ANI quoted Tharoor as saying.
Tharoor’s party suffered a humiliating defeat in all five states namely Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Manipur and Goa. The BJP won decisively in four states while the AAP created history in Punjab by winning more than 90 seats in the state’s 117-seat assembly. This is the second state after Delhi that the AAP will be forming a government.
