The Centre on Thursday cancelled the Delhi government’s order to remove Home Secretary Dharam Pal, who had issued letter appointing Joint Commissioner of Delhi Police MK Meena as the new Chief of Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB), saying the latter does not have the jurisdiction to remove him from his post.
The Home Ministry termed the removal of Delhi Home Secretary Dharam Pal as “void” and asked Delhi government to withdraw the order.
Reportedly, Pal had issued the order appointing MK Meena following LG Najeeb Jung’s directives. The conflict over authority over the bureaucracy between the AAP government and the LG has been intensifying for the past few weeks.
Joint Commissioner M K Meena was made the head of the Anti-Corruption Bureau of Delhi instead of Additional Commissioner S S Yadav who was hand-picked by the Arvind Kejriwal led AAP government in Delhi.
