Key BJP functionary shot dead in Uttar Pradesh’s Muzaffarnagar


Police in Muzaffarnagar say that a senior BJP functionary was shot dead by three unidentified bike borne assailants in Khatoli town of the district on Wednesday morning.

Raja Balmiki, former Khatoli city BJP general secretary, was shot dead by the assailants at his shop today, SHO K P Singh said.

Meanwhile, protesting against the murder, irate people blocked the Delhi-Dehradun national highway at Khatoli.

The security has been tightened in the area, the SHO said.

The BJP had won a historic mandate when the party won 325 out of 403 seats in the last month’s elections. Five-time MP from Gorakhpur, Yogi Adityanath, was elected to be the new chief minister of the state by the BJP.
