BJP MP Harish Meena on Wednesday left his party to join the Congress in the presence of party leaders Ashok Gehlot and Sachin Pilot in Delhi. The development is being seen as a serious setback to the BJP ahead of the next month’s crucial assembly polls.
Meena was elected to the Lok Sabha on the BJP ticket in 2014 from Rajasthan’s Dausa, a constituency, previously represented by Sachin Pilot’s father, late Rajesh Pilot.

The BJP is facing a huge anti-incumbency in Rajasthan and several opion polls have predicted a defeat for its state government headed by Vasundhara Raje.
Assembly polls in Rajasthan will be held on 7 Dedember. Counting of votes will take place on 11 December along with Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Telangana and Mizoram.
