BJP MP, Sakshi Maharaj on Monday said that if his party lost Bihar, it will be a loss for the state.

He reportedly said, “If BJP loses Bihar, it won’t be the loss of PM Modi or Amit Shah, it will be the loss of Bihar.” His comments were being seen as indicative of party’s admission of defeat in Bihar polls.

The controversial MP, however, denied having ever made such statements,

He told news agency ANI, “Pataa nahin kahan kahan se log khabare leke aa jaate hain. Do tihai bahumat say BJP jeetayga. Kuch ka khata nahi khulega. Amit Shah, Modiji ki mehnat rang layegi. (Don’t know from where people gather such news. BJP will get two third majority and some in the opposition may not even get a single vote. The hard work of Amit Shah and Modiji will bear fruits.)”

Meanwhile, anti-BJP alliance leaders maintained their pressure on the BJP and its star campaigners.

Lalu Prasad Yadav, the RJD leader, said, “Bihar mein BJP ka hawaa nikal gaya hai. Tabhi filmy kalakaar Hema Malini ko bula rahey hain (BJP is a depleted force in Bihar now. They too have realised it and, therefore, started calling Bollywood star Hema Malini to attract crowd.”

His son, Tejasvi Yadav, took a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP chief Amit Shah saying that they had conceded the defeat even before the elections process was concluded.

He said, “PM Modi and Amit Shah’s campaign posters have been removed to be replaced by other leaders.  They are now preparing for their loss in trying to avert the heat for the defeat.”

Bihar is undergoing crucial assembly elections with two of the five phases being completed. The counting for this election will begin on 8 November.

Nitish Kumar-led Grand Alliance is pitted against the BJP-led NDA.
