In a tragic incident, a headmaster of a middle school in Bihar’s East Champaran district on Monday committed suicide by hanging himself with a plastic rope in his office. Students discovered his body after they arrived in school. Seeing their headmaster’s body hanging from the ceiling, they began crying bitterly.
Bhushan Kumar Tandon had taken charge as the headmaster of Mathurapur Government Middle School under Turkauliya police station in March this year after the retirement of former headmaster Ramlal Ram.
Turkauliya PS SHO Akhileshwar Mishra, who reached the spot after being informed by the students, said that Tandon’s body had been sent for post-mortem to Motihari.
The village head said that Tandon was ‘very gentle and popular among students and villagers’ adding that he was a native of Vaishali district and was living in a rented room in Kotawa area, reported Times of India.
The deceased’s wife alleged that her husband was facing harassment from two assistant teachers ever since he took charge of the school. She said that her husband had complained about the harassment to senior authorities in the education department but no action was taken.
According to some local media reports, the headmaster had purchased the plastic rope used for his suicide from the local market in Kotawa.
