Baba Ka Dhaba owner Kanta Prasad admitted to Delhi hospital after he suicide bid, says Delhi Police

Police in Delhi say that Baba Ka Dhaba owner Kanta Prasad has been admitted to Safdarjung Hospital after a suicide attempt on Thursday evening. According to media reports, the police received a PCR call on Thursday evening about the suicide bid after Prasad was brought to a hospital.

“Kanta Prasad, 80 y/o owner of ‘Baba Ka Dhaba’ was admitted to Safdarjung Hospital last night. He had brought in an unconscious condition after he consumed alcohol & sleeping pills. Statement of his son has been recorded for the same. Probe on,” DCP South Atul Thakur was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.

His wife Badami Devi said, “He fell unconscious, I was sitting at the dhaba. I brought him here. Doctor has not told us anything so far. I don’t know what was going on in his mind.”

Prasad was recently in the news after it emerged that he was forced to close down his new Chinese restaurant to avoid mounting losses. He had shot to fame last year after a YouTuber highlighted his struggle to run his eatery in Malviya Nagar following a prolonged period of a nationwide lockdown. This prompted people to come forward to support him financially.

However, he later sensationally accused the YouTuber, Gaurav Wasan, of committing financial fraud and cheating. But, earlier this month, Prasad issued an apology saying that Wasan was a good man. Wasan later visited him saying that he had forgiven the octogenarian man.
