In newly released pictures by a user on Twitter, BJP MP and Minister of State Babul Supriyo is seen talking to policemen after being stopped for riding a motorbike without a helmet. He is let off after allegedly informing the cops about his social status.

Supriyo, who was earlier a Bollywood singer before actively joining politics and contesting the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, is currently Minister of State for Urban Development, and for Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation.

In the pictures, Supriyo is seen riding the motorbike without wearing any headgear along with his aide, who is seen riding pillion without a helmet.

The pictures are in clear violation of what Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently said in his ‘Mann ki Baat’ radio speech, where he emphasized on new road safety norms in the interest of the public.

While referring to a recent accident in Delhi where the scooter driver was left severely injured on the road without anybody helping him, the PM said he was going to introduce new laws on road safety, a subject of utmost concern in the country.

Supriyo, MP from Asansol, West Bengal was also in the news recently over BJP party members being unhappy with his bonhomie with West Begal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who belongs to a rival party.
