Delhi Cheif Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Deputy CM Manish Sisodia will meet Lt. Governor Najeeb Jung today. According to reports, Kejriwal is likely to hand over Delhi Law Minister Jitendra Singh Tomar’s resignation in the meet.

Tomar, who was arrested on Tuesday without any prior notice for an ‘alleged fake LLB degree’, told a news agency, “My degree is real. This is a conspiracy by the Central Government.” He further assured the public that he would win the case and soon work with the party again. Following the arrest, Tomar also resigned from the party on ‘moral grounds’.

Tomar’s arrest raised a lot of questions by the Delhi government, which has accused the police and the Central government of arresting the law minister of Delhi like a common criminal and using pressure tactics. It came at a time when Lt Governor Najeeb Jung and the Delhi government are battling against each other over administrative control of the national capital.

Ashutosh, the spokesperson of Aam Aadmi Party responded to the arrest by saying, “‘Don’t be surprised if AAP leaders are killed in road accidents.” He further added, “Those who oppose Modi government shall pay the price. But we will fight.”

Congress MP Ajay Maken criticised the Aam Aadmi Party after the arrest of state’s law minister, “It’s been 120 days since AAP came to power, there is no sign of Jan Lokpal, no signs of Lokayukta. It’s not only the law minister, there are 8 other MLAs against whom there are cases in different police stations.” He further questioned, “What will happen to complaints against those 8 MLAs, if there is no Lokayukta?”

SN Shukla, Media Incharge of Awadh University reportedly told a news agency, “As per university documents, Pradeep Kumar filed RTI for verification of Jitendra Tomar’s marksheets & degree. After thorough investigation,University’s controller of examination released official letter to Pradeep Kumar with a reply that the role no. series mentioned in Tomar’s attached documents is bogus, and the degrees & marksheets are found fake.”

Delhi’s Law Minister Jitendra Singh Tomar arrived at Lucknow Railway station on Wednesday and is set to be taken to Faizabad college as a part of further investigation to validate the LLB degree following his arrest in the fake degree controversy.
