Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has found himself at the centre of incessant attack from various quarters after he tore the pages of the Farm Laws inside the Delhi assembly in a bid to show his support for the protesting farmers. However, his political rivals were quick to slam him for his ‘theatrics’ with BJP MP Meenakshi Lekhi calling him a ‘chameleon.’

Addressing a press conference, Lekhi said, “Arvind Kejriwal puts chameleons to shame when it comes to changing colours within seconds. After notifying one of the farm laws in Delhi, he torn the copies of the Acts in Delhi Assembly today! He is the expert of U-turns and a champion of politics of bluff.”

Former Union Minister and Akali Dal leader, Harsimrat Kaur Badal asked Kejriwal who he was trying to fool by tearing the pages of the Farm Laws after having passed one of those laws on 23 November. She wrote, “Whom are you trying to fool Delhi CM @ArvindKejriwal? Have mercy on the #farmers sitting in biting cold on your doorstep. Don’t insult them by being the 1st to notify the hated #FarmLaws & now tearing their copies in the Vidhan Sabha for cheap publicity. A truly shameful act!”

Earlier, Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh had also slammed Kejriwal, terming his support for the farmers fake. He had tweeted, “Farmers of India and particularly Punjab know that you Mr @ArvindKejriwal have sold off the interest of farmers by notifying one of the draconian farm bills in Delhi on 23rd November. What pressure did the Centre have on you?”

Analysts say that Kejriwal and his party have detected an electoral opportunity in the farmers’ agitation ahead of the 2022 assembly elections in Punjab. However, many farmers at the Delhi-Haryana border had recently told Janta Ka Reporter that they would not be fooled by Kejriwal’s antics this time around. (Watch the video below).
