BJP President Amit Shah on Thursday thanked former Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit for her reported comments that ‘Manmohan Singh was not tough on terrorism.’ Shah’s comments came even after Dikshit denied making those comments.

Taking to Twitter, Shah said, “Thank you @SheilaDikshit ji for reiterating what the nation already knows but the Congress party is never ready to admit.”

Earlier, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his deputy Manish Sisodia had accused the Congress and Dikshit of helping Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his efforts to get re-elected in office in this year’s parliamentary polls. Sisodia had said, “We’ve already said that the Congress is working towards making Narendra Modi the prime minister once again.” Kejriwal, for his part, tweeted, “Comments made by Sheila ji are indeed shocking. Something is indeed brewing between the Congress and the BJP.”

Meanwhile, journalist Vir Sanghvi, on whose programme Dikshit had reportedly made the controversial comments, released the transcript of the segment of her interview. He wrote, “Here is the transcript of the controversial part of the Sheila Dixit interview. I asked her if people would vote for Modi because of his record on national security. This is what followed. Judge for yourself if it is a ringing endorsement of Modi.”

The confusion may have been caused by the CNN-News18’s own tweet (read below) that said that Dikshit had indeed made those comments.

Earlier, Dikshit had said that her comments had been taken out of context. She had tweeted, “I have seen some media is twisting my comments made in an interview. Here is what I said – it may seem to some people that Mr Modi is stronger on terror but I think this is a poll gimmick more than anything else..”
