Delhi government has decided to defer the implementation of pay revision of DANICS officers until the Ministry of Home Affairs ratified the decision.
A statement issued by the cabinet meeting of Delhi government on Monday said, “The cabinet decided to defer the implementation of the grant of grade pay and time-bound grant of scales for DANICS officers till the Union Ministry of Home Affairs ratifies this decision.”
The government press note said that the cabinet had decided to ‘request the MHA to take a final decision soon on DANICS officers salary revision, since it has been pending for more than a decade.’
Delhi’s lieutenant governor, Najeeb Jung, last week had written to civil servants in Delhi government to defy ‘illegal orders’ of the elected government. The LG’s office had taken objection to particularly two orders passed by Arvind Kejriwal government-pay revision of DANICS officers and starting of inquiry commission to probe irregularities in CNG Fitness Scam.
On the issue of the Commission of Inquiry to probe the CNG fitness scam, the cabinet decided that since ‘this matter is already pending before the Delhi High Court and all concerned parties must respect the court of law.’
The statement said, “the cabinet decided to seek the advice of MHA on whether the hon’ble LG can send such notes to a democratically elected government.
“The government will seek the MHA advice on issues including under which law the hon’ble LG issued instructions directly to officers of Delhi government and under which rule the hon’ble LG can issue instructions to an elected government.”
The cabinet also agreed that the government should also ask ‘the MHA under which powers the hon’ble LG declares the circulars and orders of an elected government null and void.’
