The AAP is appointing nearly 3,700 mandal presidents that will look after polling stations, in a bid to strengthen the party at the ground level.

AAP’s Delhi convenor Gopal Rai said the party has already appointed 3,000 mandal presidents and will soon announce names of the remaining 700.

Delhi has nearly 3,700 pooling stations and every polling station has nearly 3-4 booths.

The party has also started ‘Mera Booth Sabse Mazboot’ (My booth is the strongest of all) campaign and will also appoint 13,372 booths in-charge.

At a workers’ convention yesterday, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had termed these mandal presidents as the “backbone” of the party, who would have the responsibility to promote the “good work” done by the AAP government.

AAP leaders said the defeat in MCD elections and Rajouri Garden by-poll suggests that the party could not communicate to people the work done by the government. The mandal presidents would play a key role in this.

Yesterday, Kejriwal also asked his MLAs and ministers to meet people every morning without any appointment. On his part, the chief minister will intensify his interaction with party workers.
