A terrorist attack in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district has left at least five CRPF soldiers dead and another three injured. According to local media reports, the suspected terrorists attacked the members of the Indian paramilitary on a busy road on Wednesday afternoon.

According to reports, at least two motorcycle-borne terrorists fired at the CRPF patrol party with automatic rifles on on the busy K P Road in Anantnag before hurling grenades at them.
News agency ANI shared the scene of the gunshots on Twitter.

The injured CRPF jawans have been taken to nearby 92 base hospital. Among those injured was the Station House Officer of Anantnag Police Station, Arshad Ahmed, reported news agency PTI. Arshad has been taken to Srinagar for treatment.
A joint team of the bravo company of CRPF’s 116th battalion and state police were deployed for a picket duty in the area when the attack took place.
This is the biggest terror attack targeting the CRPF since 14 February, when a suicide bomber belonging to Pakistan-based Jaish rammed into a convoy of India’s paramilitary forces with explosives, killing 42 soldiers.
