“We are kinder to our nude men than to our nude women” Twitterati highlight Indians’ hypocrisy over praise for Milind Soman and FIR for Poonam Pandey

Twitterati have been left furious after the Goa Police filed an FIR against social media celebrity Poonam Pandey for shooting an ‘obscene video’ in the coastal state. The development came on the day actor-model Milind Soman earned widespread praise for sharing a nude photo himself from a Goa beach to mark his 55th birthday.

According to media reports, the Goa Police booked Pandey ‘after she was spotted in the video which has gone viral.’ “She has been booked for obscene gestures, trespassing on the government property, and for shooting and distributing an indecent video,” Hindustan Times quoted an officer as saying.

The report added that the complaint against Pandey was filed by the state government’s Water Resources Department, which manages the Chapoli dam in Canacona village in Goa, where the video was shot.

On Wednesday, Soman had tweeted on his 55th birthday by sharing a nude photo of himself. This had prompted many to praise him for his fitness even at the age of 55. With Pandey being booked for obscenity and Soman praised for the same act, Twitterati have been quick to highlight Indians’ inherent hypocrisy.

Pandey was later detained by the South Goa Police.
