IAS topper Tina Dabi Khan, who’s now posted as the SDM of Bhilwara district in Rajasthan, took to Instagram on Friday to flaunt her new credentials as a returning officer in the just-concluded assembly polls in the state.
In her post, Tina shared a series of photos on the ‘glimpse of voting’ in Bhilwara assembly constituency. She wrote, “Glimpse of voting today in Bhilwara AC (Assembly Constituency).” Her photos also included her own election identity card, which described her designation as the ‘returning officer’ for the assembly constituency.
Her other photos included those of voters, particularly women and physically challenged individuals. One photo in particular was of an entrance of a polling booth. The message on the poster read, “I am the voter, I am the fortune maker of India.” This clearly summed up the power of people in elections and why everyone eligible needs to vote in a democracy.
Tina’s posts earned instant appreciation from her fans, who applauded her for playing a key role in the smooth conduct of assembly elections in her constituency. One fan wrote, “We are so proud of you that you chose Rajasthan cadre.” Another wrote, “Ma’am you’re my inspiration. You are doing exactly what was expected from you as an IAS officer.”
Assembly polls for 200 seats were held in Rajasthan on Friday with the counting being scheduled for 11 December. The exit polls have indicated a clean sweep by the Congress, which is set to return to power after a gap of five years.
Tina, who was appointed the SDM of Bhilwara in October this year, has been instrumental in raising awareness about the elections and on why people needed to exercise their rights to vote through an Election Commission programme SVEEP.
The 2016 IAS topper is married to the 2nd ranked IAS officer from her batch, Athar Aamir Khan, who is currently on deputation in the Union Ministry of Tourism as an Assistant Secretary.
