Actor Sonam Kapoor has become a prime target of right-wing trolls ever since she took a bold stand on the brutal gang-rape and murder of an 8-year-old child in Kathua in Jammu and Kashmir earlier this year.
She, along with other notable Bollywood actresses, had joined the nationwide campaign to raise her voice after the members of the Hindutva brigade extended their support to the alleged rapists and murderers of the 8-year-old child. Among other names, she was also called anti-Hindu and incessantly trolled on her wedding day.
In May this year, Sonam’s decision to wear her mangalsutra as a bracelet was widely viewed as an insult to Indian culture by many social media users.
The Veere Di Wedding actor on Wednesday posted a beautiful cover photo of her latest magazine shoot, where she is seen in a royalty outfit. Sonam is seen posing in nude and off shoulder bubble-sleeved top and a matching lehenga. While posting the photo, Sonam wrote, “It’s finally here!!! The 5th Anniversary Issue of Khush Magazine is out now. It was an absolute pleasure working with the entire Khush team. Special shoutout to Shehlaa Khan for this amazing lehenga, you always make me look so pretty.”
While many fans found her new look absolutely stunning, there were quite a few sick trolls, who targeted her with abusive posts intended to slut-shame the actor. The comments were so obscene that they could not be reproduced here. They used expletives to describe unusually large breasts while dragging her husband Anand Ahuja into the conversations.
However, there were many who felt that Sonam was looking stunning in her new avatar. “Wow,” “Hot,” and #Beautiful” were how they responded to her new cover photo.
The actor was recently in news because of her comments on why she loved Muslims and Pakistan. As part of her Q&A on Instagram, Sonam was asked if she loved Muslims. Her reply was, “I love People of all faiths and beliefs! That’s what Hinduism preaches.” When asked if she loved her Pakistani followers, Sonam had replied, “Love Pakistan and I’m dying to come there and hang out.”
