Shocking scene as Alexander Zverev cries bitterly in match against Rafael Nadal, German player out of French Open semi-final on crutches

The first semi-final between Rafel Nadal and Alexander Zverev witnessed a shocking scene after the German player fell awkwardly while returning a shot to his opponent. He held his ankle and began to cry bitterly in pain.

This prompted Nadal to rush to his opponent as the medical team attended to the German player. The commentator too shouted, “Oh no.”

The corwd too reacted in shock even as Zverev kept crying in pain.

Zverev was taken out of the court on a wheelchair. It was first not clear if this was an end to the semi-final between Nadal and Zverev. The German player was entitled to one medical timeout but given the extent of his injury and pain, it was unlikely he will be able to return to the court.

Nadal had won the first set with the second set going into a tie-breaker. Zverev later returned to the court on crutches. The crowd greeted him with applause but this effectively ended the match.

Nadal, who was declared the winner, said that he was very sad for his opponent. “He was very very well. He is going to win not one but many Grand Slams. I wish him all the luck,” Nadal said.

The Spaniard said that seeing Zverev crying in pain was very tough for him.
