Sara Ali Khan recently hogged media light and courted controversy after the trailer teaser of her debut film Kedarnath released. While film critics were blown away by her impressive acting prowess, right-wing groups led by the BJP took offence to her intimate scenee with Sushant Singh Rajput in the film.
These groups also demanded banning of the film since it allegedly promoted love jihad, an imaginary phenomenon used by the Hindutva groups to incite religious animosity between groups.
Unaffected by the controversy, Sara went about with her business and shifted her focus on her second film Simmba, directed by Rohit Shetty and produced under Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions. Sara took to Instagram on the intervening night of Wednesday to announce that she had wrapped up the shooting for Simmba.
While posting a photo of herself with Rohit Shetty and Ranveer Singh, her co-star in the film, Sara wrote a heartfelt note. She thanked Rohit for ‘warmth, patience, advice, direction, concern, compassion’ shown during the shooting. As for Ranveer, Saif Ali Khan’s daughter calling him a true star adding that she thanked her ‘lucky stars’ that she could work with both of them.
Her post read, “And that’s a picture wrap ??❤️ ? Thank you so much @itsrohitshetty sir for all your warmth, patience, advice, direction, concern, compassion and lots more. Working with you has been a total blast! And @ranveersingh you truly are a star. Your energy is contagious, your passion is palpable and your positivity is incomparable. I really thank my lucky stars that I could work with both of you.”
While Kedarnath is scheduled to hit cinemas on 7 December, Simmba, on the other hand, will release on 28 December.
