India’s tennis icon Sania Mirza on Monday slammed former Bigg Boss contestant Veena Malik after the latter accused her of being a bad mother. This was after a user posted a video of Sania enjoying a meal with her husband Shoaib Malik at a restaurant in Manchester hours before the crucial India-Pakistan World Cup match, which Pakistan went on to lose. Sania’s husband Shoaib had given away his wicket cheaply as he was bowled out for a duck.
Many Pakistani supporters took to Twitter to hold Sania responsible for the poor performance by Pakistani cricketers with some even accusing her of being an Indian agent, who deliberately spoiled the performance of Pakistani cricketers. A user posted a video of Sania enjoying her meal with Shoaib with the couple’s little child at a restaurant. Reacting angrily, Sania publicly admonished the user for invading her privacy and filming the child without the couple’s permission, which is a crime in the UK.
Sania wrote, “That’s the video you shot without asking us,disrespecting our privacy even though we had a child with us?& got told off for doing so,& u came up with this crap?FYI ‘outing’ was dinner & yes ppl are allowed to eat if they lose a match!Bunch of fools!Try better content nxt time.”

Frightened by possible consequences, the user quickly removed the video. But this did not stop the criticism for Sania. Among those slamming the Indian tennis star was former Bigg Boss contestant Veena Malik, who accused her of ‘hazardous’ parenting and being a bad wife. She wrote, “Sania, I am actually so worried for the kid. You guys took him to a sheesha place isn’t it Hazardious? Also as far as I know Archie’s is all about junk food which isn’t good for athletes/Boys. You must know well as you are mother and athlete yourself? ”

Sania was in no mood to take Veena’s criticism in her stride and decided to shut her up. Sania wrote, “Veena,I hav not taken my kid to a sheesha place. Not that it’s any of your or the rest of the world’s business cause I think I care bout my son a lot more than anyone else does 🙂 secondly I am not Pakistan cricket team’s dietician (sic) nor am I their mother or principal or teacher-”

In her subsequent tweet, Sania wrote to Veena sarcastically, “To know when they sleep,wake up and eat .. thank you for your concern though .. means a lot.”

Later Sania announced that she was taking a break from Twitter. She wrote, “Twitter cracks me up ? and some ppl for sure .. you guys really need other mediums of taking your frustrations out .. peace out guys ✌? it’s break time.”
Sania had recently expressed her displeasure on disparaging TV ads being played by TV channels on both sides of the border to mock each other’s country. In the crucial World Cup match on Sunday, India had defeated Pakistan by 89 runs.
