Salman Khan’s Bharat hits the ball out of the park on Day 1, Salmania grips nation


Salman Khan’s Bharat has smashed box office records after the film collected more than Rs 42 crore on the first day of its release. Bharat also became Salman’s ‘biggest opener ever’ as it surpassed the first day’s collections of Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, which had earned Rs 40.35 crore on the day 1 of its release.

Bollywood trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to Twitter to explain just how impressive Bharat had performed at the box office. He wrote, “#Bharat hits the ball out of the park on Day 1… ⭐️ Emerges Salman’s biggest #Eid opener, surpassing *Day 1* biz of #Sultan [₹ 36.54 cr]. ⭐️ Emerges Salman’s *biggest opener ever*, surpassing *Day 1* biz of #PremRatanDhanPayo [₹ 40.35 cr].”

Adarsh wrote that the success of Bharat at the box office was indicative of Salmania gripping the nation. He wrote, “Bharat storms the BO… Proves *yet again* Salman Khan is the biggest crowd puller… #Bharat opens much bigger than Salman – Ali Abbas Zafar’s #TigerZindaHai [₹ 34.10 cr] and #Sultan [₹ 36.54 cr]… Wed ₹ 42.30 cr. India biz.”

Salman’s Eid releases since 2010 has seen significant rise in earning at the box office. In 2010, Dabangg made Rs 14.50 crore on the first day. The next year, Bodyguard did a business of Rs 21.60 crore on the day of its release. Ek Tha Tiger in 2012 earned Rs 32.93, while Kick saw a little dip and could make only Rs 26.40 crore in 2014. Bajrangi Bhaijaan in 2015 made Rs 27.25 crore, while Sultan’s box office collection on the first day in 2016 was Rs 36.54 crore. Tubelight and Race 3 did not impress audience on the first day and collected only Rs 21.15 crore and Rs 29.17 crore respectively.

Bharat has become the highest earner on the first day in 2019.

Meanwhile, Salman Khan and Sanjay Leela Bhansali have teamed up for their next Eid project, which will be called Inshallah. The film will also feature Alia Bhatt.
