Rapper Hard Kaur, whose real name is Taran Kaur Dhillon, has been booked for sedition after she posted objectionable comments against Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat. A report by PTI said that a Varanasi-based lawyer had filed a written complaint at a local police station.
The lawyer filing the case has been identified as one Shashank Shekhar.
SHO Cantonment Vijay Pratap Singh said that Hard Kaur had been booked under sections 124 A(sedition), 153A (promoting enmity between different groups on ground of religion), 500(defamation) and 505 (intent to incite) of the Indian Penal Code and section 66 of the IT Act.
In her social media post, Hard Kaur had blamed Bhagwat for being responsible for ‘all terrorist attacks in India including 26/11 attack.’ (Read the post below).
In another post targeting Adityanath, Hard Kaur had called the UP Chief Minister ‘rape man.’ She wrote, “If this guy was a superhero, his name would be Rapeman Yogi. You call him when you want your sisters, mothers, daughters raped. National Hero. I personally call him #ORANGERAPEMAN.”
Hard Kaur was born in India before her family migrated to Birmingham in the United Kingdom with her mother. She shot to fame with her hit song Ek Glassy. She later entered Bollywood and sang in several Hindi films. Her Move Your Body in particular had become hugely popular.
