Police in Delhi have arrested one person in connection with the online leak of Udta Punjab, just two days before its release last week.

The cyber division of Mumbai Police on Wednesday arrested the owner of torrent site allzmovies.in. News agency ANI reported that the person arrested today had no connection with the CBFC.

The makers of the movie had lodged a complaint with the cyber cell.

The co-producer of the movie, Anurag Kashyap, had successfully mounted a legal challenge against the CBFC after the latter ordered multiple cuts in the film.

Directed by Abhishek Chaubey, the film has Shahid Kapoor and Alia Bhatt among others in lead characters. The film explores the growing menace of drugs in Punjab, which is scheduled to go for polls next year.

The producers had moved the Bombay High Court against the the board’s decision. The court cleared the film for release with just one cut.

Since the leaked film had ‘For Censor’ written on it, there was a suspicion that this may have been done by someone within the CBFC to settle scores with the producers.

But, the CBFC chairman, Pahlaj Nihalani had vehemently denied the allegations.
