The maulana, the Muslim priest, who performed Sameer Dawood Wankhede’s nikah, has confirmed that the officer investigating Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan was Muslim when he married his first wife, Dr. Shabana Qureshi.
Maulana Muzammil Ahmad said that Sameer Dawood Wankhede had introduced himself as Muslim. This confirms Maharashtra Minister Nawab Malik’s claims that the controversial NCB officer had forged his document to claim reservation in the UPSC exams to become an IRS officer.
“I wouldn’t have performed the nikah if Sameer was Hindu..He’s lying (about his religious identity). He (Wankhede) even signed as a Muslim,” Maulana Muzammil Ahmad told ABP News.
Nawab Malik, who’s been relentless in his attack against Wankhede, took to Twitter on Wednesday to share a photo of the NCB officer with his first wife. He wrote, “Photo of a Sweet Couple Sameer Dawood Wankhede and Dr. Shabana Qureshi.”

Wankhede’s father, who claims to be a Hindu, said that the nikahnama was authentic. When told that the nikahnama had the NCB officer’s father’s name as Dawood, he said that he could not notice the anomaly due to the crowd present in his son’s wedding.

Sameer Wankhede’s second wife, Kranti Redkar Wankhede, had said that her husband had always practiced Hindu faith. “Me n my Husband Sameer r born Hindus. We hv never converted to any other religion.V respect all religions.Sameer’s father too is hindu married to my Muslim Mom in law who is no more.Sameer’s ex-marriage ws under special marriage act, divorced in 2016.Ours in hindu marriage act 2017,” she had tweeted.
Sameer Wankhede has been at the centre of widespread criticism for his dubious conduct in the arrest of Aryan Khan. An NCB witness, Prabhakar Sail, had alleged in an affidavit that Wankhede was meant to be paid Rs. 8 crore in ransom in the Aryan Khan’s arrest case. Wankhede has denied allegations.
On Tuesday, Nawab Malik sensationally alleged that Wankhede was illegally tapping the phones of Bollywood actors, politicians and businessmen in Mumbai with the help of two private people.
Meanwhile, there was no respite for Aryan Khan from the Bombay High Court as the hearing is set to continue on Thursday. Former Attorney General of India, Mukul Rohatgi, is representing Shah Rukh Khan’s son.
