The Cyber Cell of the Mumbai Police on Wednesday arrested a Hindutva fanatic, identified as Ramnagesh Alibathini, for threatening to rape the 9-month-old baby of Indian skipper Virat Kohli and actor Anushka Sharma.

A special team of the Mumbai Police arrested the Hindutva hatemonger from Hyderabad. Ramnagesh is reported to be a software engineer and has worked for a food delivery app in the past.

Ramnagesh had threatened to rape 9-month-old Vamika after Virat Kohli publicly slammed Hindutva hatemongers for accusing Mohammad Shami of accepting money from Pakistan to ensure India’s defeat in the T20 World Cup.

Immediately after India lost to Pakistan in their opening match to Pakistan, supporters of Prime Minister Narendra Modi had taken to social media to question Shami’s loyalty to India because of his Muslim identity. Shami was singled out for criticism even though several other cricketers had failed to deliver on the day.

Attacking Hindutva hatemongers for questioning Shami’s patriotism, Kohli had said that this was ‘the most pathetic thing human being can do.’

“There is a good reason why we are playing on the field and not some bunch of spineless people on social media that have no courage to actually speak to any individual in person. This is the lowest level of human form, attacking someone over religion is the most pathetic thing human being can do,” Kohli had said in a press conference.

This did not go down well with Hindutva hatemongers, who began to attack Kohli while wishing for India’s defeat in the competition. One hatemonger had threatened to rape the Indian skipper’s 9-month-old daughter.

He had quickly changed his profile photo to mislead people as if he was a Pakistani national. The police were under pressure to take action as Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Delhi Commission for Women chief Swati Maliwal demanded the hatemonger’s arrest.
